Can you believe that 2008 marks the 25th Anniversary of Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.?! What better way to celebrate the 25th Anniversary than a reunion of the entire network of LPInc. family and friends? We hope to see you there on Saturday, May 24th, 2008! |

By now we hope that your calendar is marked and that you are planning to join us for the 25th Anniversary Celebration! We are planning an exciting, New Year’s Eve-style event that is sure to be full of fun! Here is a list of important information to help you prepare for the event: ¨ The 25th Anniversary Celebration will take place on Saturday, May 24th, 2008. During the early part of the evening, individual LP and LDI class members and their significant others and guests will meet at various venues around the Golden Triangle. The exact location, food, and drinks for these individual class reunions are being managed by each class. The 25th Anniversary Planning Committee has already contacted individuals from each class to act as the Class Captain for the celebrations. Click here to see a list of the 25th Anniversary Class Captains. If you have missed the communications from your Class Captains, please be sure to contact them and find out about your plans. For the most current listing of reunion venues for each class, click here! ¨ In the latter part of the evening, after the individual class reunions, all classes, guests and other community members will convene at the Westin Convention Center Hotel for the MAIN Celebration! To remain inclusive, a deeply held value of the organization, LPInc. is raising funds so that the ticket price will be only $50 per person. ¨ Please use this opportunity to connect with the wider network and introduce your friends and colleagues to LPInc.! LPInc.’s Own Pittsburgh 250 Black and Gold Bike! This black and gold bike is a perfect fit for the streets and trails of Pittsburgh and it even has a name— “Leadership on Wheels”! Approximately 25 of these bikes were specially designed to commemorate the Pittsburgh 250 Celebration and, more specifically, the completion of the Great Allegheny Passage, the longest hiking and biking trail in the eastern US! During our 25th Anniversary year, it is only fitting that a graduate from our first LP class receives a special award, demonstrating his commitment to our community. We would like to congratulate Scotti Mulert, LP I, who was recently awarded the Byrd R. Brown/K. Leroy Irvis Civil Rights and Vanguard Award. Scotti was previously awarded the Minority Enterprise Corporation’s Pillar Award in 1998 and the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh’s Racial Justice Award in 1995. Our LP and LDI grads continue to represent the mission of LPInc. long after they graduate. Well done, Scotti! |

On March 6th, 2008, LP XXIV participated in their Justice and the Legal System Session, sponsored by the Allegheny County Bar Association. The session provided the class with opportunities to identify and examine key issues and challenges facing the justice system in our community. The session stimulated their thinking regarding the concept of justice and how it can be better delivered to promote a stronger and healthier community and region. Highlights of the day included lunch and a tour of the Allegheny County Jail led by Warden Ramon Rustin as well as experiential learning site visits to the Family and Criminal Courts of Common Pleas of Allegheny County . These tours were hosted respectively by Administrative Justices The Honorable Kim Berkeley Clark and The Honorable Donna Jo McDaniel. A special visit to the United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania was hosted by District Judge The Honorable Joy Flowers Conti, LP IV. |

Champions Connections—A “Wired” and “Winning” Evening! Nearly 100 individuals from across the community gathered on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008, at the Carnegie Science Center for the first Champions Connections of 2008—a special showing of the Omnimax film “Wired to Win”. The event celebrated the Pittsburgh 250 and the American Eagle Outfitters Tour of Pennsylvania, presented by Highmark Healthy High 5. Stay tuned for future Champions Connections events! |
