In May 2008, Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. will be celebrating its 25th anniversary! Individual class reunions will precede the big celebration where the entire LPInc. family and friends will come together. The LP XXIV class participates in a discussion facilitated by Scott Izzo, Director of the RK Mellon Foundation and session chair, during the Health and Human Services session. Robert Stumpp, Senior Policy Manager, Allegheny County Department of Human Services, also co-chaired the session. |
On January 24th, 2008, LP XXIV explored the challenges facing human services stakeholders in our community during their Human Services Day at the Jewish Association on Aging. Meeting with consumers, nonprofit executive directors and other key community leaders, the class broadened its understanding of how we can create solutions to human needs in our community/region rather than just delivering services that address symptoms of larger issues. |

For their Mid-Year Retreat on February 20th and 21st, 2008, LP XXIV explored issues of leadership, inclusion and diversity. Participating in an innovative and cutting-edge Open Space Technology experience, class members self-convened 21 topical discussions focused on what they as leaders needed to talk about regarding inclusion and diversity in order to continue to build a healthier and stronger community in Greater Pittsburgh. |

The LDI XV Session on Economic and Sustainable Development benefited from the knowledge of Dewitt Peart, Executive Vice President, Allegheny Conference on Community Development; Laura Wilson, Partnership of Southeast Texas; and Court Gould, Executive Director, Sustainable Pittsburgh. |
On February 7th, 2008, the LDI XV class met for their “Economic Development for Sustainability” session at Alcoa on the North Shore. The class was joined by Pat Getty, LP III, President of Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation; Dewitt Peart, LP XXIV, Executive Vice President of Allegheny Conference on Community Development; and Court Gould, Executive Director of Sustainable Pittsburgh. The class played “The Economic Development Game”, which was co-developed by Laura Wilson from the Partnership of Southeast Texas. Laura braved a cold February day in Pittsburgh to facilitate the game! |

Focus Group Participants Needed! The Southwestern Pennsylvania Partnership for Aging (SWPPA) is looking for 12 people ages 50-64 to participate in a one hour focus group about what kinds of support they might need and want as they grow older to remain living independently at home. This information will be used to inform leaders across southwestern PA about what future consumers of services will expect from an aging service system. Participants will remain anonymous in all reports from the focus group discussions.
