LPInc. 25th Anniversary Celebration Updates!

Hope your calendars are marked, but have you responded?

It is going to be an exciting, New Year’s Eve-style event that is sure to be full of fun!

Some important information to help you prepare for the celebration:

¨ The 25th Anniversary Celebration will take place on Saturday, May 24th, 2008.  During the early part of the evening, LP and LDI class members and their significant others and guests will meet at various venues around the Golden Triangle.  The 25th Anniversary Planning Committee has already contacted individuals from each class to act as the Class Captains for the individual class reunions.  Click here to see a list of the 25th Anniversary Class Captains.  If you have missed the communications from your Class Captains, please be sure to contact them and find out about your plans.  For the most current listing of reunion venues for each class, click here!

¨ At 8:00pm, all classes, guests and other community leaders will convene at the Westin Convention Center Hotel for the MAIN Celebration!  The ticket price is only $50 per person so invite others, too!

¨ Use this opportunity to connect with the wider network and introduce your friends and colleagues to LPInc.!

Leadership Development Initiative Session on Diversity

On Thursday, April 17th, LDI XV examined diversity as a leadership strength at the beautiful East Liberty Presbyterian Church.  Dina Clark (LP XXIII), Education Project Director at A World of Difference, led the class in self-facilitated discussions around diversity issues in the workplace and community.  LDI XV also enjoyed fantastic Ethiopian cuisine courtesy of current LP XXIV participant, Jamie Wallace, Owner of Abay Ethiopian Cuisine.

Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.’s Leadership on Wheels

Susan Kapusta, LP XVI, General Manager of Community Affairs at the U.S. Steel Foundation, was acknowledged in the Pittsburgh Business Times for receiving the Anthony L. Bucci Award for Excellence in Communication Ethics from Duquesne University.  Congratulations!

Terrie Suica-Reed, LP XXIII, President and CEO of Phase 4 Learning Center, is featured in April’s issue of Pittsburgh Professional Magazine for her work with students needing alternate education options.

Jeffrey Letwin, LP VI, Port Authority of Allegheny County Board Member and Managing Partner of Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis LLP, expects his board will approve the new Port Authority Board of Directors restructuring plan discussed in a recent article in the Pittsburgh Business Times.

Aaron Walton, LP VII, Senior VP of Corporate Affairs at Highmark, is acknowledged in Pittsburgh Magazine for receiving the Lillian M. Bassi Core Values Award from his alma mater California University of PA.  Congratulations!

William Schenck, LP I, President of TriState Capital Bank and former PA Banking Secretary, describes PNC and National City’s use of FHLBanks as a funding source to be a smart business decision in a recent Pittsburgh Business Times article.

Barbara Baker, LP XI, President and CEO of Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium and Richard Piacentini, LP XII, Executive Director of Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, each received awards at the Diamond Awards Honoring Pittsburgh’s Top CEOs and Company Presidents.  Well done!
