Call for Updates—New Graduate Profiles Directory to be Printed

As part of our 25th Anniversary celebration, we will be printing a special Silver Edition of our Graduate Profiles Directory.  This Directory is an invaluable resource for networking and staying in contact with fellow LP and LDI grads.  We need to have updated contact information on file for each of you.  Please take a moment to update your information—for your convenience, you can quickly and easily do this on our website, just click here.  Photos will be included in the Directory—if you would like to update your profile photo, please email your photo in .jpeg format to Outreach Coordinator Liz Ryan at liz@lpinc.org.  Stay tuned for more information about the new Directory!

 

LP Graduate Receives Top National Administrator Honor

Congratulations to our own Terrie Suica-Reed, LP XXIII, who recently received the Simon Youth Foundation’s Third-Annual National Administrator of the Year Award!

Chris Mayernik (LP XIII), Former Governor Dick Thornburgh, Chris Brussalis (LP XIII)

On October 26th, a special  Opportunity Connections event was held in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Business Times and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development at The Rivers Club.  The featured guest was former Governor and US Attorney Dick Thornburgh.

In November, the Opportunity Connections event featured President and CEO of the Manchester Bidwell Corporation, Bill Strickland, Jr.

 

Councilman Bill Peduto, Betsy Benson  (LP, XXI), Scott Hanley (LP XVII)

A lively panel discussion on Public Opinion and the Media was a highlight of the LPI Connective and Entrepreneurial Thursdays event at Altar Bar on November 1st.  Panel members included City Councilman Bill Peduto, Director/General Manager of WDUQ 90.5, Scott Hanley (LP XVII), and the Publisher/Editor of Pittsburgh Magazine, Betsy Benson (LP XXI).

 

 

Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato

Leadership Pittsburgh  XXIV is well underway and the sessions are better than ever this year!  On November 15th, Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato addressed LP XXIV participants as part of their Government and Public Policy Session at the University of Pittsburgh.  The 57 members of LP XXIV are focusing on how they can create, shape, impact and change public policy in our region through their Leadership Pittsburgh experience.

 

 

LDI XV enjoys skating at the PPG Ice Rink before the Social Capital Session

On November 29th, LDI XV participated in an outstanding session: Creating Thriving Communities through Social Capital.  After beginning the session with ice skating at the PPG rink, the class discussed social capital with Mrs. Elsie Hillman .  A fantastic session was led by Kevin Kearns, Professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, Wayne Jones (LDI XI), Program Officer for Children, Youth, and Families at the Heinz Endowments, and Gregg Behr, Executive Director of the Grable Foundation.

Terri Baltimore, LP XXII, named Vice President of Neighborhood Development by The Hill House Association.

Karla Boos, LP XVI, is highlighted for staging plays at unconventional venues across the city with Quantum Theatre, which she founded. 

Chip Burke, LP XII, Chairman of the Grable Foundation, was seen enjoying the evening at the Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Magic of Mentoring Recognition Event at Heinz Field.

Annie Hanna Engel, LP XXIII, co-chaired the St. Lucy’s Auxiliary to the Blind Medallion Ball this year.

John Gisleson, LP XIX, named Vice Chair at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP after previously serving as Co-Chair of the Business Litigation Practice Group.

Nate Harper, current participant LP XXIV, City of Pittsburgh Chief of Police, took a night off from laying down the law in order to celebrate at the 2007 Policeman’s Ball benefiting the Pittsburgh Police Historical Association.

Eric Komendant, LDI XIII, Legislative Director for Congressman Jason Altmire (LDI VII), was recently married and his beautiful wedding photo splashes the pages of this month’s Whirl Magazine.

Chris Kush, LP XX, gives sound advice on how diversifying strengthens his firm during down times in the Pgh Business Times.

Paul Mavrinac, LP XX, of McCrory & McDowell LLC named as 2007-2008 officer for the Allegheny Tax Society.

Christine S. Mayernik, LP XIII, appointed Vice President of Linear Utilities and Business Development at Michael Baker Corporation.

Todd Moules, LP XXI, President and CEO National City Bank, was no square when he was seen showing support for the Circle of Hope Awards benefiting Pennsylvania Women Work!

Audrey Murrell, LP XVI, named Director of the David Berg Center for Ethics & Leadership in the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.

James Rogal, LP VIII, elected as an officer to the Board of Directors of Gateway Rehabilitation Center.

Ellen Roth, LP XIII, will be the featured speaker at the Business for Breakfast Series on December 5th; she’ll be discussing the positive aspects of relocating to Pittsburgh and how her company attracts  executives to the region.

Andrew Russell, LP XXIII, PNC Senior Vice President/Market Manager for Western Pennsylvania provides color commentary in the Pgh Business Times on the specifics of PNC changing logo colors to orange and blue.

Anne Swager, LP XV, discusses with the Pgh Business times how booming business abroad led to “Burt Hill opening local studio to support international projects”.
