Welcome Leadership Development Initiative Class XV!

The leaves are changing colors in Pittsburgh, the Steelers and Pens are back in action—it must be Fall!  This exciting time of year also marks the beginning of a new Leadership  Development Initiative session.  A reception was held on Thursday, October 11th at the National Aviary to welcome the LDI XV class to our growing network of Pittsburgh leaders.  

LP Grads Honored With ‘40 Under 40’ Award

We know our grads are special—Pittsburgh Magazine and PUMP think so, too!  The 2007 ‘40 Under 40’ winners were announced and Leadership Pittsburgh is very proud to have four graduates on the list of honorees!   Chosen for their passion and commitment to the region, the ’40 Under 40’ winners will be honored at a celebration in November and will be featured in the November issue of Pittsburgh Magazine.

LPI Connective - Entrepreneurial Thursdays

Join us for Entrepreneurial Thursdays—a casual, networking event featuring live Jazz, Soul & Blues by Jessica Lee and a panel discussion entitled “Media and Public Opinion: The next 25.”  Panelists include Betsy Benson (LP XXI), Scott Hanley (LP XVII), Anne Linaberger (LP XXIII), and Councilman Bill Peduto.

Pittsburgh Cares, a flexible volunteer matching program, works to build the capacity and impact of regional nonprofits.  With over 3,500 volunteers in its wide network, Pittsburgh Cares is able to support the efforts of more than 100 nonprofits in the Greater Pittsburgh region.  Pittsburgh Cares is beginning a search for new board members.  Interested candidates should submit resume and completed biographical profile to governance@pittsburghcares.org.

Overview: The current Executive Director is transitioning out of this position, opening up a unique opportunity to take the helm at a leading resource and authority for homeless men and women in the community.  Bethlehem Haven is a nonprofit, providing a variety of services, including: emergency shelter, transitional housing, medical, dental, obstetrics and mental health services,  and employment services.  Over the past 25 years, Bethlehem Haven has provided shelter to thousands of homeless individuals for over 9,000 consecutive nights.

LDI XV participant, Royce Woods, was appointed to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl’s 35-member Propel Pittsburgh Commission, which hopes to provide young Pittsburghers a major role in moving the City of Pittsburgh forward.
