When Class XXXI graduated from Leadership Pittsburgh, they wanted to stay in contact with each other while continuing to give back to the community. More than half of the class, or about 30 people and their families decided to volunteer with VLP. Just recently, a group of alumni from Leadership Pittsburgh – Class XXXI prepared a first floor apartment located in the South Side for a homeless veteran through Veterans Leadership Program’s Project Journey Home.
Project Journey Home provides apartments to veterans who are homeless and in need of a safe and comfortable place to stay for a few months while they look for employment and permanent housing of their own. When the veteran is ready to move out of a Project Journey Home, VLP volunteers clean the apartment and re-stock it with food, supplies and other necessary item for the next veteran.
For more than 30 years, Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. has been dedicated to strengthening a diverse group of leaders to serve southwestern Pennsylvania. Thank you to the New Pittsburgh Courier for their recent article featuring Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. and some of our wonderful alums.
