Join LDI XXII, a program of Leadership Pittsburgh Inc., in this year’s PopUp! Pittsburgh project, Fresh Fest! Fresh Fest will be a fun-filled afternoon of exciting entertainment and family-friendly activities in Pittsburgh’s lively Northside neighborhood, California-Kirkbride, May 16, 2015. Based on the farm-to-table concept, Fresh Fest will be full of exciting opportunities to entertain the entire family.
You won’t want to miss one of the highlight events of the day, Food Feud! Food Feud is going to be all out cooking competition between California-Kirkbride neighborhood residents and local celebrity chefs.
Three rounds of competition—vegetable, meat, and pre-made baked good—will pit three different celebrity chefs against three different neighborhood residents and/or teams. A panel of judges including local celebrities as well as neighborhood residents will choose the winner of each round and an overall best dish winner.
At Fresh Fest, you’ll also want to spend some family time in Farm n’ Fun, a kids zone full of hands-on activities. Included will be a make and take area where kids can create their own dish to take home or to eat right there. And, be sure to check out the farm exploration tasting section where kids will learn about different farming practices through engaging demonstrations.
We hope that you will join us in California-Kirkbride on May 16, 2015, for Fresh Fest. Check back for more updates on celebrity chefs and other activities and collaborating partners including Northside Coalition for Fair Housing, Neighborhood Allies, The Buhl Foundation, Farm Truck Foods, and our presenting sponsor Highmark.
The LDI class is currently collecting submissions for California-Kirkbride residents to sign up as chefs or judges for Food Feud. ContactFreshFest2015@gmail.com for more information.
