Karen L. Hanlon, LP XXIII

Karen Hanlon is a Leadership Pittsburgh XXIII alumna and serves as Treasurer of the Board.
Karen Hanlon is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of finance experience, spending most of that time in the health insurance industry. She currently serves as senior vice president of financial planning and analysis at Highmark Inc., where she is responsible for providing executive direction for accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, capital planning, tax planning and compliance and cost analysis and budgeting. She also currently serves as the chief financial officer and treasurer for a number of Highmark subsidiaries and is a member of the board of directors of various Highmark subsidiaries and affiliates, including United Concordia Companies Subsidiaries and HM Insurance Group.
Ms. Hanlon began her career in public accounting at KPMG Peat Marwick, prior to joining Highmark in 1997. In her career at Highmark, Karen has held several positions within the finance division.
Ms. Hanlon has been a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants for over 15 years. She is also on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest PA. Ms. Hanlon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Grove City College and is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania.
